• TRAINING ON PSYCHO-SOCIAL INTERVENTIONS
FOR CHILDREN IN CRISIS
(posted Nov. 2007)
A training on Psycho-social Interventions for Children
in Crisis was given by ARCSEA Executive Director Ms. Sophia Perez-Garduce
and Partners' Capacity-Building for Child Rights Programming Program
Officer Ms. Ma. Esmeralda Macaspac last January 23-27, 2007 in Iloilo
City. The training, sponsored by Vlaams International Centrum (VIC)
of Belgium, was attended by VIC partners Albert Schweitzer Association
in the Philippines (ASAP), Chameleon Foundation, Iloilo Juvenile Welfare
Association (IJWA) and the Child and Family Service Philippines, Inc.
Most of these organizations provide shelter and rehabilitation for children
victims and survivors of physical and sexual abuse or Children In Conflict
with the Law (CICL).
The training focused on Framework setting and program
management of psycho-social programs for the organizations' clientele.
By way of workshops, group discussions, and case conferences, the groups
gained insight on handling problems of children and at the same time,
were able to share best practices in psycho-social care to other participants.
After the training, both trainors and participants
were invited to a dinner by Ms. Rosalyn Sarabia-Trenas, wife of Iloilo
City Mayor Jerry Trenas. Ms. Trenas is a Board member of IJWA. They
were also treated by Ms. Trenas to the famous Dinagyang Festival of
Iloilo.
